ABOUT LAURA WORKMAN
Laura Workman is a powerhouse vocalist and guitarist who brings heart, grit, warmth, and unmistakable rock-and-roll attitude to every performance. Her approach is rooted in emotional storytelling—making the audience feel the song, not simply hear it.
Laura’s connection to music began at just five years old, when she attended a Carpenters concert that changed her forever. Even then, she was captivated by Karen Carpenter’s warmth, authenticity, and the deep emotion in her voice. Laura didn’t just hear the music—she felt it.
Years later, she found that same sense of authenticity in Chrissie Hynde, whose confidence, vulnerability, distinctive phrasing, and unapologetic rock-and-roll attitude resonated deeply with her. The connection feels even more personal because Chrissie grew up in Akron and spent time in Cleveland, while Laura grew up in Cleveland and knows many of the Ohio places referenced in Pretenders songs.
Today, as the frontwoman of Brass In Pocket – The Pretenders Experience, Laura brings that personal connection to the stage, capturing the spirit of Chrissie Hynde while bringing her own personality, emotion, and energy to every performance.
